If this is happening in PSK31 and I think you said RTTY also, then it is most likely just the PA cooling fans speeding up as the temp rises. Nothing to do with microphones or software or whatnot. It's just the fans speeding up.
The fans may not be rubbing anything, but you will hear them as they speed up to keep your PA cool. It's normal. ---------------------- The radio is the K/100 version. It's not a rubbing noise. I've tested the fans. The sound's a bit like one of those older rigs with an internal ATU tuning up. Not the prtch noise but more the whirring noises.
