Rick, While each has their own "favorite methods", anything in containers having sharp corners drives me nuts - I have to use a tool to retrieve the screw (or part) in the container. OK, so I have had a lot of experience with measurements, and I can easily distinguish between 3/16 inch and 1/4 inch visually, so I just put the hardware "kind-of" spread out in a tray. Then I can pick up the length that is needed from "the pile".
I do not begrudge those who lack the ability to distinguish a variety of screw lengths and diameters at a glance, but for those who do have good visual recognition of those parameters, putting each size into a container that has rectangular bottoms is a recipe for frustration in retrieving the parts IMHO. The 'egg carton' approach is better because they have rounded bottoms which make retrieval easier, but make sure you use the paper-based egg cartons, and not the static generating Styrofoam cartons. 73, Don W3FPR Rick Dettinger wrote: > I always use 3 oz. paper drink cups from the local warehouse store.
