The K3 worked great right from the first radios. All of the important and essential improvements have been in the firmware. I have done very few of the mods to my K3 #222 and see no point in spending time and money "keeping my K3 up to date" when the changes would result in no perceptible (to me) improvement. I solved the lack of bass audio issue by using high impedance headphones and amplified computer speakers at far less cost and hassle than swapping out a DSP board.
I'm sure anyone who bought an early K3 and has not been following this reflector would be using it in blissful ignorance of the fact that modifications had been made and not fretting over it. ----- Julian, G4ILO.
