You friend is wrong. His experience is probably due to not properly adjusting SHIFT or HI CUT for best intelligibility. When adjusted correctly, Fc should be ~1000 Hz and the 1.8k is quite readable. In fact some are even using Inrad's 1.5k. These narrowband filters are intended for communications in extreme QRM (e.g. contests or big DX pileups). You don't want or need any narrower filters than the stock 2.7k/2.8k for casual operation. http://n1eu.com/K3/K3_notes.htm (scroll down to SHIFT setting) 73, Bill -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/2-1-kHz-filter-K3-tp5024771p5024794.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
