Phil, You would have to rewire the HM-36 for use with the K3 - the K3 uses a fixed microphone jack pinout (unlike the K2 which can be configured or many microphones). The Heil B10 microphone can be used if you change the Heil adapter to a Kenwood type 9or create your own adapter. The tone of your question tells me that you are capable of building your own adapter. Download the Elecraft K3 manual to see the microphone jack pinout.
