The problem with Euclide is that we can't restore the previous session,
since we expect the user has many different projects. If I want to work
on granite, I don't want Euclide spent too much time opening Maya for
instance... Obviously, a project library would be better, but it would
take some time. I am going to let that as it is currently, I'll see
later if there is a better option...
So, I will merge some things (replace tabs by space, some code
simplification, the demo apps, and the comments) but I will let the new
functions in that branch...

Hmm, I think my assumption is that the welcome screen should be used
as a first-run case. After that, the application should be restoring
the previous session. Or if you'd like to provide a projects "library"
that should probably be done in a more proper way (more details,
better browsing modes, expecting more projects) than appending a list
of recent items to a welcome screen.

Hi,
I modified the Welcome widget to add support for smaller items and title. It
could be used for Recent Files (or contact, or whatever). I post that here
because I think some design advices would be good.
Here is a screenshot:

There is a demo executable (which should be completed with the other widgets
later). I also fixed the tabs/spaces problem, and I added some documentation
for the widget. The code is in lp:~elementaryart/granite/welcome-screen.

Feedback welcomed!
