As pointed out by Guillaume, it wouldn't be that complex, it just
requires some time and resources which we cannot spare at the moment.
It would definitely rock though!

We are already working on integrating RSS feeds in Elisa, and as pointed
out by Philippe we are looking closely at Telepathy.

Hum yes, that and Skype is not free (as in free speech). However I guess
developing it as an external plugin would be feasible.

... and we are actively working on integrating various webtv services in
Elisa. Check out the upcoming releases in the near future...

I couldn't find any reliable information on AIR being open source, but
its distribution license terms seem quite restrictive.
