you can try my embedded distribution to start elisa on www.openelec.tv.
Download the development version with "bzr branch lp:openelec" and run
"make". eventually you must setup kernel config and add xorg-driver for
your system. this distro is arround 40MB and starts on my HP Notebook in
ca 7-10 sec. at the moment i dont have a windowmanager included so elisa
is not fullscreen. i am looking for people who help me in the
development and / or can program in Python to change elisa to work
without windowmanager and write plugins for Televison etc...

Hi
Has anyone tried to create a setup where X [Ubuntu 8.10] starts
directly into Elisa with a minimum of other programs started?
Is a window-manager needed?
What is not needed?
How much speed (in %) can be gained by starting with a minimum of X
programs instead of just manipulating the System | Preferences |
Sessions and adding Elisa to that one?
My Ubuntu boots in aprox. 38 secs. on my Acer Aspire One but my X
startup time is at least as long - toooo loooooong :-)
Best Regards,
Kristian
