Is a window-manager needed?
Yes. A small one like evilwm will suffice.
i have build and installed evilwm in my distro, it looks good. how can i
tell evilwm to start elisa everytime in fullscreen?
stephan
What is not needed?
Theoretically not much, you should have dbus, though, and
gnome-screensaver can be of use.
How much speed (in %) can be gained by starting with a minimum of X
programs instead of just manipulating the System | Preferences |
Sessions and adding Elisa to that one?
You can't gain speed as such, you can free resources to be given to
Elisa.
My Ubuntu boots in aprox. 38 secs. on my Acer Aspire One but my X
startup time is at least as long - toooo loooooong :-)
You can, though, improve your session startup.
You could create a gdm session that would only start evilwm and Elisa.
