This react-conf 2016 video on Elm <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txxKx_I39a8> (which was when I first heard of Elm) is a great explanation of the many things which are possible in javascript, but not necesserily good.
Javascript is like an irresponsible parent. You can do pretty much whatever you like (which is great), but that includes stuff that is really bad for your own future and for the rest of the world. Elm is like a strict parent.
