Yes, the shadow is still there when I'm zooming in the the magnification effect
meant
for handicapped people...

I succeeded in making a screen-shot. This was done while the magnification
effect was
on. An example off the "shadow text" is just under the mouse pointer... I took
the
sceen-shot while font smoothing was turned off in Emacs.app and with the
changes I made
in System Preferences (see below). For this screen-shot the window is
transparent, with
a light background. Settings in .emacs:

(custom-set-variables
   '(default-frame-alist (quote ((tool-bar-lines . 0) (top . 0) (left . 0)
(height . 40)
(menu-bar-lines . 1) (Background "ARGB88ffffff") (Foreground "GRAY00ff")
(background
light))))
)

I had already tried turning off font smoothing in the Emacs prefs panel, but
even then
the text shadow still remained...

I also checked the System Preferences and changed

Appearance - Font smoothing style
to
light
and set
Turn off text smoothing for font sizes 12 and smaller

(the font size I use in Emacs.app is 11)
