Especially since custom-set-variables automatically writes into your .emacs file. Please, whenever you write about the custom-set-* applications, say automatically written into your .emacs file, rather than written by you in your .emacs file This way, it will never even occur to you that a change made in a .emacs file might be "Set for the current session" only.
