So you are saying that a fix for a clear and present bug should be postponed pending a future decision about adding a feature? That doesn't sound like the right idea to me. I'd rather say that when the support for menu accelerators is added to Emacs, we will have to figure out how to do that without smashing & characters in menu items and keybindings shown next to them.
