Following up on this thread. I just opened a file and had it come up
read-only on me. It is NOT under any revision control. There are NO
version controlled files in the directory at all. The file resides on
a machine where my userid is different though. So that may be the
culprit.
KAI -- If you read this soon, I still have the file open and have done
nothing to it. Is there anything I can do in a live session to help
debug this?
Note that there have been some changes since my initial message. I
was running OpenSSH 2.5p2 and am now running OpenSSH 2.9p1.
There is also an additional change in behavior. The file opened fine,
but seems to have lost the sense that it is a TRAMP controlled file.
All the userid@host information is gone. If I issue an open file in
that buffer, Emacs prompts me with the current directory path, but not
preceded by remote machine information. I have opened this specific
file on this specific machine with no problems before. The filename
behavior may be related to the new OpenSSH. I could toggle back to
the previous version to check.
Thanks again for the great software and support.
