Here's a Mail.app issue I haven't seen mentioned yet: Messages don't
always exist in a clearly defined place in Mail.app. Specifically,
after I create a new message and hit "Send", the message essentially
disappears. The "Sent" folder gets a throbber, but clicking on it does
not actually show the message until Mail.app is done sending.

This becomes especially confusing if there are connection problems and
Mail.app re-opens the message in its own window, asking me what to do
with it. Eventually, it's often unclear what Mail.app is doing,
whether there are still messages that Mail.app will try to send out at
a later date, or where exactly my messages disappeared to.

I think it would be useful to have an Outbox which lists messages
Letters.app is trying to deliver, and shows what errors - if any -
occurred. The Outbox should always be visible (unlike the Downloads
folder in iTunes), so that it is clear to the user when it is empty -
as a general rule, dynamically hiding folders or mailboxes if they are
currently not required is probably a bad idea. Each message should
always exist in at least one clearly defined place in the UI.
