The Mailbox List is a separate window that lists only mailboxes, Eudora-style. For the Emailer style in Mailsmith, use the Mail Browser window with the preview pane hidden. You can drag the split bar to the bottom until the preview goes away. This also works in Apple Mail, and if you put the window on the right of your screen you can make the drawer open on the left. In Entourage, there's a toggle for the preview pane in the View menu.
