When there is enough text to identify the specific person from any other similar ones, tab to the next field and it will be populated by the preferred email address of the person you selected. Then you can switch through the email addresses of that person, if they have multiple emails with the Command + up (or down) Arrow. This assumes that you have correctly entered several (or more than one) address in the address book for that person, not as individual separate emails, but as extra entries in that person's address record. The email that appears first is the preferred email and is preselected by the little arrow to the left of an email address in the email entry field of the address book. In the address book you see a small triangle beside names that have multiple addresses in their record. Hope that is clear now.
