I have an email account with a webpage outfit, which a strange new authentication scheme. They support Eudora and Outlook. They know nothing about Emailer.
Using BatonMail, I can make Emailer send mail through their smtp server from my Emailer program all right. However, I cannot "get" my mail from the POP server, as I cannot (or do not know how to) do the SMTP authentication which is now required to send or receive email through the account. Is there some way to do the SMTP authentication in order to POP the email in my inbox? The default setting in BatonMail is as follows, which works to SEND email from Emailer: SMTP server: smtp.companydomain.com SMTP port: 25 Auth Type: SMTP Username: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Password: The account setting in Emailer, which works with BatonMail to SEND email from Emailer. Account Name: any entry works Username: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Email account: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Password: SMTP server: localhost Email Address: [This can be left blank in sending, or be filled in with whatever -- makes no difference in sending, except in the info put into the header.] [I used the "localhost" file which came with BatonMail.] The above configuration works to SEND; what do I need to do to RECEIVE mail? The pop server name is pop.companydomain.com One of the POP accounts to check is [EMAIL PROTECTED]; The other of the POP accounts to check is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Apparently, there has to be an SMTP authentication by Emailer BEFORE one can POP the email when Emailer is going through a "get mail" cycle. Any help will be appreciated, or will Emailer just not work with this new system? ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
