I do not run Quicken, Quickbooks or Quickbooks Pro.
My knowledge is 2nd hand. Probably users out there who can comment
and their comments are superior to mine. That said:
(1) Quicken support (nil) and reliablity failures (Mac version) remove
it from consideration in my situation. The support and reliability
situations are reported to me by my brother and other users of Quicken on
the Mac.
(2) As a CPA I met with who wants me to move to Quicken/Ouickbooks told
me, "its greatest disadvantage is it is not double entry -- you can
"cook" the books. This also makes is perfect for the non-accountant just
wanting to enter some numbers" Again, this is from someone other than me.
(3) Quickbooks Pro on a non-Mac has been reported to be inferior to MYOB
on a Mac by a brother in law.
(4) Quicken for Mac is well behind Quicken for non-Mac.
Thus, if I wanted to run Quicken I'd probably do it in a non-Mac
version through emulation on the Mac.
