Dave, as one of the people who have posted more than a few questions regarding CE and AOL, I know where you're coming from. To answer some of your questions. AOL is the biggest strictly due to momentum. Back in the Progidy days, Steve case was the first person to figure out that people want the internet to be easy (Mac-esqe, if you will) and he started sending everybody and their mother those diskettes. On top of that, I've gone to great lengths to give everyone this email address, even have it embedded in the code for my websites. Sure, I could go change it, but that would be a lot of work. Besides that, dialing through an ISP, and creating the necessary commands so your remote access disconnects, not to mention changing these commands so when I launch Adobe GoLive, Claris Home Page (yes, I still use it) or Explorer ARA doesn't connect to the web isn't something I relish. Besides that, I was once an "ambassador" and when they stopped that program, we got grandfathered in at $7.95/mo. Sure, there are occassional things they handle p*ss poor, like while I was on vacation and having my iBook check my mail, AOL decided to discontinue the dialup number I was using with no warning. Luckily I had AOL installed (ever since that other problem I'd had downloading that 3.4 mb file) and could log in and get a new access number, but AOL messed with my ISP settings and DIDN'T restore them when I quit. Luckily I have a PM 7500 with the same settings so I didn't have to go searching for the "welcome to Earthlink" letter. Bottom line is this, I use AOL for mail, period. It' s easy and already setup. While I have everyone's attention, can someone take me through the steps to setup CE to access my ISP to get my AOL mail? I know this is simple, but when I had that bad phone number problem I tried to set it and couldn't get it to work.
