Please provide some foundation for that statement using objectively gathered 
statistics.  A survey, for example.  Otherwise, enough with the 
statements-of-personal-opinion-as-if-they-are-facts.  It's gotten old.

OK, I'm declaring a moratorium on this "UI guidelines" crap.  UI guidelines are 
invented.   They carry about as much weight as a "U.N. resolution."  They aren't laws. 
 Apple is free to think different and break them at will, and I'm darn glad they do.  
Otherwise we'd have machines designed by a bunch of "ergonomicists" who think they 
know what's best for everybody else.  And yes, I've read the studies which outline the 
research and reasoning behind the "UI guidelines," and they're all subjective 
bullsnot.  "Icons mustn't do this," "Objects cannot flash or move," blah blah blah.  
What, are we living in a fascist state now or something?  Anybody can argue against a 
design change by saying it's "a UI violation."  That doesn't prove anything.  Enough 
already.
