Here's how I do it: I have Earthlink DSL, some personal domains and (used to have) a work e-mail.
Set all accounts to send through the appropriate smtp server at your location. Right now, I send everything through mail.earthlink.net and it all goes. Earthlink knows that they are blocking traffic through outside e-mail servers, so they allow all e-mail to get sent from within their network regardless of the actual users e-mail account. Of course, switching is a problem in this case as you won't be able to send through the same account. You could set up special accounts that send through the appropriate smtp server... in fact, that's probably the easiest way to do it. You would have the following accounts: Earthlink (E send) Earthlink (M send) MediaCom (E send) MediaCom (M send) Gulf.net (E send) Gulf.net (M send) mydomain.net (E send) mydomain.net (M send) Send through the one that's appropriate for your location... when on dial-up, use the "E send" account and when on the cable modem, use the "M send" accounts. You might also be able to applescript this, but I don't have that much experience in that particular area... Hope this helps. smiles, Jamie On 11/12/02 5:54 AM, berndt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> typed: >'Listers: > >How do I configure Emailer to send mail through a dial up account when >connected to a cable modem. > >I've four mail accounts--one with a local ISP (dial up); two with >Earthlink (which hosts my company's web site and is a dailup account) and >one with my cable company--MediaCom.
