For me, there's no hassle. I use a connection script that checks mail
before sending, so the authentication is taken care of.
In addition to having a 250 MB email database that's easily searchable (I
haven't found the archiving solutions to my liking), there is one feature
built into Emailer 2.0v3 that does not seem to exist in any other email
program -- the Auto File Log.
This (because of how I've got my many Mail Actions and Folders set up)
gives me at a glance a window with all the email that's arrived since the
last time _I viewed it_ (not since the last time it was checked, and not
just unread mail). I have over 80 folders, so I don't want to have to
scan through one folder at a time; I want to quickly visually scan what's
come in since the last time I looked, and open only those critical emails
now. The rest are already filed and prioritized, and I can view them
later.
There are some scripts that approximate this in other programs, but
nothing that duplicates it exactly. This is puzzling to me, since the
same folks who developed Emailer wrote Outlook Express and Entourage. Oh,
well. I'll stick with Emailer as long as I possibly can.
