>You are a perfect candidate for the times that I say "to hell with hating >MS" and would recommend you just buy a copy of Word. > >I hate MS... but I use Windows and MS Office all the time at work... >simply because it does the job I need it to do... and in the end, isn't >that really the purpose of a computer anyway. > augh! but... but... I'm under no stress with BBEdit, and... my translation work is far better. Word *doesn't* do the job I need it to do, now that I've been using BBEdit for years.
e.g. I have megas and megas of glossaries, dictionaries, a full encyclopedia in Spanish, etc., cleaned up and in pure text and I search them from BBEdit, absolutely impossible from Word. Encyclopedias are only accessible to others via CD, with horrendous search patterns and never any access to all the text. Not even copy paste in some cases! The mindset of the programmer is forced on to the user. The user uses dictionaries, the programmer doesn't, for a living, that is. Dictionary search programmers got stuck in the paper mode so (usually) they think all you want to search for is the 'entry' word and not phrases that to me are accessible in the definitions. And of course they think there is a copyright on five words in succession, as in 'The fox jumped over the (memory leak!...)' but, yes, I'm a perfect candidate. I have Word 6 somewhere.
