NO -
RTF is NOT a standard - or at least it did not start that way, or at
least MS does not think it is a standard.
RTF from Word 5 to word 6 fails
RTF from word 6 to 98 fails
I have not tried 98 to 2001, nor 2001 to X but I would guess that they
both fail too.
by fail I mean either:
a - (most often) the file fails to open at all - with some useless
obscure MS error
b - the file does open but all the formating that is *supposed* to be
there is not, or is improperly applied.
RTF from other sources may work correctly - but due to my experiences
with RTF - tell people to just give plain text.
>>And although RTF is an open standard, it too fits with a 2nd problem.
>>That is, some people (tends to be PC people) don't send an email body,
>>rather they write their email in Word or some other text editor, and then
>>attach that to a blank email.
