Let me clarify: It does not screw up any applications. What happens is
the old app won't run until it installs the old library, etc. files (over
newer ones). Then the new app won't run until it installs the newer
versions of those files over the old ones. And on and on . . .
Just an inconvenience, nothing is wrecked or lost.
