>- Charlie Thanks for all the good advice, I knew there was place besides IE's prefs to change/set file helpers but didn't bother looking under the "Advanced" tab, yet. You spurred me on. I changed the File Mapping, nor sure what I was doing there because there were choices I didn't understand. However, as Micke has since observed, it didn't work because "a translation extension" could not be found. I opened the .doc document into AW through open dialog again and discovered that when I tried to save it (for the first time), a text file(that discussed non-existant pictures that might have been included in the original), became a spreadsheet with only one field of garbledygook - talk about not translating formats well!! While I was in File Mapping, I thought I would ensure that .sit files used the newer version of Stuffit as ever since downloading it I have gotten the "no translation extension" alert and have to drag the file into the app. It didn't correct the problem - any hints there? Anyway, glad to know how at least _open_ Word files but am still wondering if Powerpoint Viewer will ever work - does anyone have any silly little .pps file they can send me to see if the file I was trying to open was corrupted? Thanks for all the help, Tannis ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
