Yeah, but I'll bet the price difference between the broadband and the 
dial-up customers offset the loss of number of users, netting Earthlink 
more revenue that way...

As an Earthlink dial-up user, I'm sorry to hear that - their phone people 
were usually more knowledgeable than the people who answer their email 
help (or if you fill out a feedback on their pages).

Have to start hoping they get decent broadband in my town, I guess.
