Maybe so, but not removing "digest" subject line are disrespectful to
begin with. Both to the person behind the discussion that initiated the
discussion subject and also to the readers, that really should be given
the at least a hint to understand the contents of a message. But once a
thread have been named it can be wise to stay with that until a change is
really called for (because you changed direction for instance).

My incoming "digest" subjected messages go straight to the bin unread.
This also true for empty subject lines. If the sender couldn't take the
small effort and time to change the subject to the proper existing thread
subject or create a new one reflecting the content, then how likely is it
I will appreciate the contents? Not very likely is my experience.

While I agree in principle with your statement, the sender of a "digest"
or empty subject line message should expect somewhat negative responses,
though the more informative and nicely put the better. These things are
seldom worth starting a flame war for. Well, that may never be worth it.
But it is still a reality of mailing list life.
