VRic said as so: >And avoiding ads for myself can even be considered good for the >community since I save a lot of bandwith (iCab should be the browser of >choice for volume-limited accounts). This is not true as of now, as iCab only hides the pictures (it's true according to the iCab list). It should work the way you imply though. Maybe in the near future.
>And only iCab lets you correct problems as they appear instead of hoping >webmasters will improve their pages. Ex: manually resize any frame to fit >my iBook, prevent Javascripts on lemonde.fr from moving pages to the >front when I explicitly opened them in the backround, or convert hotmail >from a slow mess full of ads and HTML spam with scripts that loop to a >fast text only mess with scripts that work, etc. Can you do something about the Macromedia Exchange pages in iCab? It got IE stuck in a loop with opening a window and reloading another. Macromedias developers must hate Macs and standards. While iCab *is* slow, I still use it from time to time sometimes for stuff like you mentioned. >(and were forced to change Sherlock from the fantastic tool it was to an >extremely annoying joke that almost nobody used any more). Tell me about it! >yet it's updated more >often than most and has always been more stable too I disagree on both accounts. Compare to GraphicConverter. That is what I call stable and often updated. I get a lot of type 2 crashes in OS 9 and sudden quits in OS X. In OS X it eats a lot of resources. >And remember iCab was once faster than anything on the mac Those were its days. >Lastly, there must be some kind of connection with the Emailer spirit: >I'm not the only one to love both; the guy who maintains iCab's french >version is(was?) an Emailer fellow (and did the hacked french Emailer >2.0v3 for that matter). It's the appreciation of fine quality I suppose. Too bad iCab isn't even close to Emailer, AFAIC. At least not at the moment. ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
