Ken is correct about the error message. Apologies that I paraphrased the
message without checking what it actually said. I receive exactly the
message he quoted above in brackets.

When I go to AOL anywhere and view the mail message, it does appear that
the photo is embedded in the email rather than supplied as an attachment.
Although there is a difference in the appearance of the mail icon, it
may not be the "attachement" icon. I had not noticed that before.
Perhaps I should ask the list members to send items as attachments rather
than embed the photos. It might help a lot of people besides me.

My version of AOL is/was 4.0 not any older. Someone advised that 5.0 was
a nuisance so I never upgraded. Then I discovered I didn't even need it
loaded on my new G4 computer to retrieve my AOL mail through Claris. I
decided to use Earthlink since I was able to get an additional email
address with a "free" mac.com email address, although that deal has now
soured since the the mac.com address is no longer free. I wish I had
saved the wording that described that offer, because I think it was "bait
and switch." I never recall reading that the "free aspect" was for a
limited time only.

So is the problem with emailer not downloading/opening embedded photos or
is the problem that I am retrieving through an AOL dialup connection via
emailer?
