Ladies & gentlemen many thanks to those of you who've tried to help me with my chronic multiple emails problems. With the help of more than one list member, I think I managed to clean it up. All afternoon, I've basically been multiple-free. thanks Magnus, Chris, Dave aned Mike!
Two key actions: turning off extensions "AMD" (auto modem detection) and applescriptlib, which was version 1.1 (and I don't know how it ever got there). Plus I again reinstalled a clean version of Emailer. And I'm regularly deleting any d_store files that accumulate. I've also kept SpamSieve turned off and I haven't used the scripts to record spam and good email. Well, just now, thinking everything was cool, I highlighted the spam I'd been saving all day, opened SpamSieve and hit the spam script -- Emailer crashed instantly. I was able to restart only after running disk utilities and cleaning up permissions. Is anyone else running SpamSieve? Any ideas on how to make sure it's the culprit -- before I report it to macfixit? This has been about a month of hell, losing three months of email files, corrupting my DB beyond repair twice, but I've managed to avoid switching.
