Well, I told Mark I'd already written a script which does something similar (renames attached HTML file based on a text selection and the date), but I couldn't stop myself from writing the script he asked for. Both may be had for the asking. (Please let me know if you're running CE within OS X . . . I'll probably need to change a few of the Finder commands.) Meanwhile, it's worth mentioning that Emailer makes it pretty easy to locate (and open) attachments on its own: * Double-clicking the attachment icon (in the Enclosures pane of the message window) has the same effect as dbl-clicking at Finder, i.e., it opens the file (if possible). * Option-Double-clicking the attachment's icon in the message window will switch you to the Finder and reveal the attachment (where you could then rename it easily). * The attachment's icon in the message window may be dragged and dropped just as if you were operating in a Finder window. You can drag it into the Trash, or, if you've got your application switcher pallet visible, drag the icon to the button of an open application to open the file with that appl.
