Yup, they gave you OS 9.1 because it used to be bundled with OS X (and I 
had thought still was, but the reports are that Jaguar doesn't come with 
it).

Classic is Virtual PC for running OS 9 INSIDE OS X. Classic is NOTHING 
but an application that LETS you run OS 9... you still need OS 9. You can 
have Classic installed without OS 9 (and in fact that is the way OS X 
installs), but despite it being installed, it is totally useless UNLESS 
you ALSO install OS 9.

Kind of like you can install Virtual PC, but you can't do squat with it 
unless you ALSO install a PC operating system (DOS, Windows, Linux, OS/2, 
whatever).
