Clunkiness because on the 12 inch G4 PowerBook OS9 is Classic. OS 9.1 on a fast Mac in most instances is faster than OS X on the same Mac. Many of the Finder operations seem much faster in OS 9.1. >From all sources, Panther will cure much of the Finder slowness.
