>Dear Emailer friends-
>Here is an email I received and you can see it is addressed to someone
>else. How did it become delivered to my email account? This is scary.

Not scary at all. Not an error, nothing at all wrong.

Did you notice it had an attachment. Did you notice the attachment name.
It ends in ".scr". That's a Windows VB Script file. Its a virus.

There are MANY viruses out there that will do this. They will take random
bits of an email from an infected computer, and send it out as a new
email to everyone it can find an address for. It will do all sorts of
things to hide where it came from and who it was going to.

Why? Because it doesn't want to be stopped, and it wants to prey on human
curiousity. Most of the people dumb enough to STILL open these
attachments are the same kind of people that are going to "take
advantage" of someone else's mistake and read what they think is personal
email that was accidentally delivered to them.

The only thing scary about the whole thing is that people STILL use MS
email clients and STILL open these attachments, despite the wide spread
knowledge that these things can happen and your otherwise private info
can be shared with the world. It only happens with MS email clients and
MS windows... if you avoid one or both, you will be safe... yet people
continue to use them... THAT is scary!
