>I'm running 10.2.6 and Emailer 2 v3 in Classic. This morning my Browser >disappeared. I restarted but it was gone.
The browser is just a window. It can be visible or not. If it isn't visible, go to the Window menu and choose Browser, that will display it. >I opened my backup copy which was fine, just two months behind and copied >the Mail Database and Address Book to it. When I reopened it I had no >Browser in the backup copy either. Of course not, because the Browser window has nothing to do with your mail database files. Its just the window it is displayed in. >I remembered that in the past I had a corrupt Mail Index so I replaced the >current Mail Index with one on a second backup (also several months old). Very Very VERY bad idea. That's the fast route to a totally damaged database. Do an advanced Database rebuild ASAP! (Hold down the Option key while starting Emailer, choose Advanced Rebuild, go watch a movie, it may take a while). In the future, do NOT mix Index and Database versions. If the two aren't from the same set, then dump the Index file entirely, and let Emailer build a brand new Index file. Do NOT take an old Index and match with a new Database or vice versa. >To compound my problem, when I try to open any version of Emailer, I'm now >getting the following message "The Claris Emailer Preferences file is >either damaged or open in another application. You may only run one copy >of Claris Emailer at a time. If there is no other copy running, delete >your preferences file." I threw away the preferences and have restarted >Classic several times, but nothing seems to help. That's possible. The Prefs file is what stores the info on what windows were left open or closed. Make sure you throw out the Prefs file in both your System Folder's Claris folder, as well as in your Emailer application folder (you may not have a copy in both locations, but if you do, throw them both out) -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
