In Digest V2004 #57, the person identified as Bill McIntyre <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> hunted and pecked out the following:
>Yesterday I tried to send mail to three different people with Road Runner >addresses and all of it bounced all day. Last night at midnight I called >Cox tech support and was told that Road Runner was blocking all mail from >Cox but that the block should be removed by morning. Morning is well >underway but my mail to Road Runner is still bouncing, so I called tech >support again. I was told that blocks like this were usually the result >of spam originating from an ISP and that the problem was usually resolved >"quickly." > >I was just wondering if any of you could tell me more about what is going >on. Is this just a fight between ISPs? Is Cox "dirtier" than the average >ISP? Sounds like somebody with a RR address in their address book collected a virus that sent out lotsa spam using that as the "origination" address. These were reported to SpamCop et al, that then put RR on a published "Black List" for a brief period until either the reports stopped -- in which case the listing would be deleted -- or they continued -- in which case the listing would be continued. At least that's how I understand the process to work. -- Selah! BWms -= Nanosecond: The NO!NO!second between the action and the "Oh HELL!" reaction =- ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
