Word has supported drag & drop since at least v5.1 but you need to have the cursor pointing in the correct direction otherwise it does not work. Notice in CE that when words are highlighted, as you drag the cursor to the bottom of the highlighted area it turns into a left facing arrow. In Word the arrow needs to be pointing slightly to the left too, just like CE, and not the right - that is for highlighting a line in Word. Try again carefully watching the cursor properties change.
