>Anybody ever heard of this?

Yup, its been around for a while, and is only needed if you have a
Stuffit Engine version 4 or earlier (not sure if it is all of the 4.x
series or not). The bug was fixed in later versions of the Stuffit
Engine. The Stuffit Engine is located in the Extensions folder in the
System folder (in case anyone wants to check what version they have).

Also bear in mind, it ONLY happens if you use the Stuffit Engine and then
try to change screen resolutions. If you don't compress your attachments
(has NOTHING to do with Encoding attachments), you won't use the stuffit
engine. And if you don't change your screen resolution, it won't matter
(although some programs, particularly games, will attempt to change the
screen resolution for you when they start)
