I don't know if anyone else has noted this on this list, but AOL now
filters potential spam and places it in a separate folder which can be
accessed via their webmail or via AOL software.

Windows users see a button in AOL software for selecting the "Spam
Folder." But the current Mac version of the AOL software does not display
even a hint that the Spam Folder exists, and requires users to type
something like "load spam folder" in order to see its contents. According
to AOL tech support, the Mac client will be upgraded to match the WIndows
client within a few weeks/months.

A worse situation is that Emailer doesn't see the spam folder at all,
raising the possibility that legitimate mail will be sent into obscurity
- apparently undelivered.

Mail sent by me to my wife's account has fallen into this swamp. So has a
newsletter from her company.

There apparently is no way to opt out of AOL's diversion of messages into
the spam folder.

I discovered this problem almost by accident while configurating a test
of PowerMail as a potential replacement for CE, using AOL's new IMAP
access. The good news is that PM sees the spam folder. The bad news is
that it does not see AOL "Read Mail" and apparently offers no way to
process AOL mail thru my local filters...

This charter subscriber to AOL is getting close to pulling the plug!
