First, this is an OS X only problem, if you aren't on OS X, it won't happen to you. Second, the .DS_Store file is supposed to only be created when the Finder needs to store information about a folder. So if you never open, or in any other way mess with the Temp Incoming folder, the offending file should never be created. The size of the inbox has no bearing on if it will happen or not. In fact, nothing about Emailer itself has any bearing on if the .DS_Store file will be created or not.
