You're looking at either a foreign character set or Unicode or other ISO 
characters that Claris Emailer doesn't understand.

Why I receive a message like that, usually from someone in Japan or 
China, frequently their "From" name is also in garbage characters.

If I open the same message in Outlook Express Mac, the subject and name 
will appear.  Sometimes they appear in Roman characters, and sometimes in 
a foreign characters.
