For the past 3 or more years, also currently, McAfee is still posting virus definitions database updates for Virex 6 around the beginning of every month. Also posted at VersionTracker's web site which I generally visit first. If it's not there, or the download from VT winds up flawed, I go to McAfee's web site and download the version 6 updates from there. Still running a first generation PowerMac 7100/80 with OS 8.1.
Never had a virus, or trojan horse in all the years been running Macs. The only time I run Virex is immediately after updating the virus definitions database file once a month. However, with Virex (which I think is the best of the bunch) always updated and running in the background I at least get peace of mind.
