Presumably you have read the post suggesting you peruse several web sites comparing cable vs. DSL. Also presumably, those sites (haven't checked them myself) mention that on the cable side, the download speed is often considerably faster than upload. Here in humidity-reach Gulf Breeze, Fla, where my broadband is served up by cable provider MediaCom, download speed is 3 Mbps while upload speed is only about one-third that. That was painfully reinforced over the weekend when I upload to my .mac photobook pictures of this past weekend's Blue Angels airshow. It took about three minutes to upload 3.7 mbs. Another benefit not mentioned so far, is broadband lets you use iSight.
