'Listers: Of the many pieces of valuable advice dispensed by Chris on this list over the years, the one that stuck with me most is anytime the autolog file is slow to open, it is time to rebuild the database/index.
Which I did last evening after the autolog file took its time opening. As usual, I clicked on the typical rebuild option and left the powerbook (G4, 1.25 ghz, OS X 10.3.4) to run. Came back to the computer about ten minutes later and Emailer had quit. A check in the Emailer folder showed: Mail Database [21 Mb] Mail DB (Incomplete) [60.6] Mail Index [24] Mail Index (Incomplete) [11] The numbers in brackets are the sizes of the files; the 60.6 Mb size of the Mail DB (Incomplete) is suspicious by it size. Usually I quit everything when rebuilding, but I think iChat was running. Still, there was no other activity when rebuilding (no active chats at the time). Emailer appears to be working fine. Any thoughts on this unusual behavior? I'll try rebuilding this evening, with nothing else running.
