Running OS 9.1, I use the handy utility Text Soap 2 from Unmarked Software. <http://www.unmarked.com/products/index.php> It does all kinds of cleaner, reformatting, stripping, to mangled text, including removing control characters and odd stuff the can come from Windows messages. It has a contextual menu, so you can clean text inside an email, and also has an application. If you copy something to the clipboard, and then open the application, Text Soap automatically places the text in it's "cleaner window." You can customize cleaners, too, if you don't mind reading a few directions. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Roger S.
