Email software is such a personal choice that I find it impossible to recommend one programme before another. I've been using PowerMail for several months now after many years of Emailer. IMHO it is pretty close to Emailer, both visually and in its feature set. There are of course differences - for example PowerMail receives mail before it sends - and these may seem odd for a few days. There is an active support list where one finds many of the stalwarts of the Emailer list. For those who use OSX, PowerMail has tight integration with SpamSieve; as I use OS9, I don't know whether this is a plus - I handle my spam problems with POPmonitor. >It's commercial software, costing $49 and upgrades aren't >free. If the company goes under or decides to EOL Powermail >because it's not making them money any more (does this >sound at all familiar? :-/ ) what are you going to do? Major upgrades are not free, minor are. The company is small and based in Switzerland. If it quits, you have the same 'problem' as you have with Emailer, WordPerfect etc. except that PowerMail does exist in an OSX native version. For those who archive their mail with John Carlsen's eMA, PowerMail works well. I'm not sure that he supports Thunderbird. >BTW, the Powermail company homepage ><http://www.ctmdev.com/> is giving me a 404 error Today a traceroute confirms that the connection is broken somewhere before CTM's server. This is not the first time that it's happened, usually the problem is sorted fairly quickly. Don't forget that during August much of Europe is on vacation. In short I recommend trying it (a demo version handles up to 200 messages I believe).
