Laszlo Systems Previews Web-based Mail Application at This Week's Fall
2004 ISPCON Conference

Breakthrough User Experience Runs in any Web Browser

SAN MATEO, Calif. and at the ISPCON Fall 2004 Conference (November 3,
2004) - Laszlo Systems, developer of the Laszlo open source platform and
provider of rich Internet applications and services, previewed the first
of its application modules at the Santa Clara, Calif.-based ISPCON Fall
2004 Conference. The application, entitled Laszlo Mail, delivers the
functionality and responsiveness of desktop e-mail in any Web browser
without the installation of client software.

Antony Campitelli, Vice President of Marketing of Laszlo Systems stated,
"It's well known that Web mail usually delivers a less-than-productive
user experience. Given the information requirements and expectations of
today's e-mail users, few are willing to compromise the experience with
outdated solutions. Laszlo Mail provides a responsive single-page user
interface with familiar drag-and-drop support for mail tasks, including
address book and folders."

"The industry has seen mail grow exponentially over the last few years,
but we have yet to make a leap to the next generation Web," said Steve
Douty, former vice president, marketing at Hotmail. "Laszlo has managed
to combine the best of both worlds - an e-mail program with the
functionality of a desktop app but centrally deployed and maintained on
the web - I like it."

The preview of this application follows Laszlo Systems' recent
announcement that the underlying Laszlo platform is available as open
source under the Common Public License (CPL). In addition to making its
source code and related services available to the developer community,
Laszlo Systems will continue to develop a robust selection of commercial
rich Internet communications and commerce applications, such as its Web
mail offering.

Laszlo's CTO and co-founder, David Temkin will participate in a panel at
the ISPCON conference entitled "Webmail Wound-up: What Gmail and 1GB
Storage Wars Mean to You." The session, scheduled for Thursday, November
4, 2004 from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., will offer attendees insight into
the future of email, such as what the next generation of Web mail will
look like, and what it means to existing email services.

"We are now witnessing the adoption of rich Internet applications to
deliver better functionality on the Web," said Temkin. "Laszlo's
expertise in communications and design is reflected in our new mail
application."

Douty concurred, "I think the emergence of rich applications is long
overdue. It's about time we started to see this type of user experience
online."
