FWIW, I have a semi-effective work-around that lets me maintain IE's book marks AND get to 'em in Safari:
* I make a bookmark in Safari that points to the file "Favorites.html" which is located in my home.../Library/Preferences/Explorer/ It's not really quite as nice as "real" bookmarks in Safari, but it means that it's always in sync. I just have to remember to open links in a new window if I want to maintain the Explorer favorites in a window during a session.
